Choosing your wedding venue comes early on in your wedding planning process and is the first major thing you need to book for your wedding. There are so many great choices in central Kentucky, and yes, it is normal to feel overwhelmed.
As a wedding concierge for couples here in Lexington, KY, a large part of my job is to guide you through options that fit your budget, style, and requirements for your wedding. That means getting to know local venues very closely. I see and work with a number of impressive venues, but every couple has unique needs and visions. As you begin your planning, I hope this overview of the types of venues available in Lexington and the surrounding area will serve as a good starting place.
Barns
Location: 1200 Red Mile Rd, Lexington, KY 40504
Built in 1882 and a mix of Kentucky history and style, The Round Barn sits next to the Red Mile Harness Track. With two levels that can be rented, it can hold 250-320 guests for a wedding reception and around 400 for cocktails. There are several great spots outside of the property for a ceremony and the inside is big enough for a backup rain plan! The Round Barn is managed by Bayou Bluegrass Catering, they serve as the in house caterer as well! Learn more about The Round Barn and Bayou Bluegrass Catering on their episode of The Wedding Whisperer Podcast.

Originally built in 1887, Castle & Key Distillery was shut down during Prohibition and left in ruins. Luckily, the property has been beautifully restored and is now operating once again! With the option of a few locations for your wedding backdrop, this romantic castle setting could be what you’re looking for. Even if you don’t go with Castle & Key for your wedding day, it’s a great tour for your out of town guests visiting the area!

The Log Still Distillery is run by the Dant family and boasts several different areas to house your ceremony, reception, and cocktail party. Stay on site and get ready in the included bridal suite! This venue is actually about an hour away from Lexington, but I wanted to share it because we are so limited on distillery venues in central Kentucky. Kelliejoy Films has filmed several beautiful weddings at the property and I wanted to share some of those videos!

Hotels
Hotels can be a great option for your wedding venue as they are all inclusive including the venue, rentals (tables, chairs, linens, china, and flatware), food and beverage! They’re also a convenient option for your bridal party and out of town guests as they can stay there as well. Often times when couples go with a hotel, they will utilize the property for a rehearsal dinner, welcome party, wedding festivities and morning after brunch! It’s a great way to spend the weekend with your family and friends! Hotels often have a lower rental fee because you will have a food and beverage minimum with them. Win-win!
