Staying with the garden theme of the ceremony, Tera and Shawn’s reception in the ballroom at the Calumet Club was decorated with adorable carved wooden birds and beautiful natural accents. I loved it!! And check out this simple, yet stunning cake, along with the other goodies, made by Adrienne and Co. Gorgeous as always! Enjoy a handful of our favorite images!
To Tera and Shawn: Congratulations!! We could not be happier for you as you begin one of life’s greatest adventures! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for asking us to share in your special day, and for trusting us to photograph it. We truly loved every minute of it!
Rayna at Always Planned called and asked me if I’d be open to shooting a wedding at the Opera House in Lexington. Uhhhh….let me think about that. YES! Of course!
Anne-Bennett grew up in Kentucky and spent a lot of time watching performances at this theatre. She’s been living in other states more recently, so this was a homecoming of sorts for her. I love that she and Austin picked such a cool spot for their wedding.
Big thanks to all the great vendors!

Here are some highlights from the day! Don’t forget the slideshow at the very end!
Anne-Bennett and Austin wanted to go ahead and knock out all of their pictures beforehand, so we arranged for their first look to be on the stage. Talk about a picturesque moment!
These two were so sweet with each other during the first look. They literally stood there for 5 minutes chatting and loving on each other. Awesome.
Hello Miss Wedding Gown Model! Way to rock that dress!
Coolest part of the evening? After their first kiss at the end of the ceremony, the curtain behind them was raised to reveal the reception setup. The live band went right into a song, and Austin and Anne-Bennett had their first dance right then and there with the guests watching from their auditorium seating. Pretty cool, eh?
And here’s the slideshow! When you’re finished, please feel free to leave me some comment love below and hook up with me on Facebook and Twitter. I love staying in touch with folks who stop by my blog. Thanks, y’all!
Oh, and lastly, to see all of the shots from the wedding and reception (there were tons more), click HERE and preregister. You’ll be notified here in a few days once they’re posted into a gallery. Thanks!
Having not been to the Calumet Club before Tera and Shawn’s wedding, I had no idea what to expect… but this place is beautiful! Tera had a friend transform the basement for a lovely garden themed ceremony, and it was perfect!! I absolutely loved the way they had the altar decorated with flowers and garden decor. Enjoy a few of our favorites! :)
And, a few of Eric’s favorite film images from this portion of the day:
Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with Kristalyn Jaramillo of “I Do” Faces’. She is an absolute joy to be around and truly has a shining personality that fits so well with her profession. I loved getting the chance to talk to her about her company and the amazing things she does. When I asked her what she loved most about her job, her face lit up when she explained to me that she loves making women beautiful and instilling in them the ability to feel confident. She originally started make-up artistry part time and truly developed a passion for the profession. For Kristalyn, make-up artistry is not about the make-up but rather about enhancing her clients natural beauty in order to make them feel like a fresher, newer version of themselves. Kristalyn uses her creativity to work with color and create a personalized look that fits her clients style and personality. She offers her clients who are Simply Love visitors a 10% discount! Each one of her packages includes a trail run to ensure that the bride is completely satisfied with her work before the big day. At Always Planned we are very sentimental when it comes to Daddys giving away their little girls. So…. I absolutely love this handkerchief I found on Etsy. This would be a great gift to give dad during those last few moments before that special walk down the aisle…. because believe me he is going to need it.
