This wedding season make your mark by leaving a carbon foot-print on your special day! There are many alternatives and choices for an Eco friendly wedding which are becoming more and more popular. Below are some of the top 5 ways you can integrate GREEN ecological/economical principles into your day. 

*Eco-Friendly Wedding Favors: Use wedding favors that will be beneficial and memorable of your big day. (sage green seed favors) 

*Catering: Use an organic catering company that sources local ingredients

*Green Venues: Try to choose an isolated venue so guest don’t have to travel far or have your guest shuttled from one location to the next.

*Flowers and Decor: Try using flowers that are currently in season (grown locally) that can be donated after the big day. Otherwise, the flowers will have to be imported.

*Wedding Rings: Try to find a diamond store that gives a percentage of it’s proceeds to environmental preservation organizations.

When a bride tells us that she was referred by the wonderful ladies at the Couture Closet, we already know we are going to love the couple… they just have such fabulous brides! Cassie and Ian certainly fit that profile of being absolutely amazing :) Despite the fact that we were getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, we truly enjoyed spending an evening with them for their engagement session… just wandering around Smoketown, chatting and laughing the whole time, and of course capturing some gorgeous photos of the couple! And now, we are just that much more excited about their New Year’s Eve wedding. It’s going to be fantastic!!

You never see shoe clips anymore… but I think that they should make a comeback!! I was browsing through Feather Your Nest here in Lexington where they have lots of antique jewelry and ran across some shoe clips. They are a cheap way to dress up an old pair of shoes and you can get them to match every outfit. Shoe clips can also be a great bridal accessory; use them as your something blue or to bring in the colors or theme of your wedding to your shoes! Custom shoe clips can also be found at Etsy to have for your big day!

Last week I had the opportunity to meet with Tracie at Tinker’s. It was a great experience. When I went in the shop for the first time, I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful display of cakes.
