Hello again! I’ve been told that I need to write about a website I introduced to Sarah- one that I’m in love with! The site is called Pinterest; it’s basically a site where you can create free inspiration boards. It doesn’t sound like much, I know, but trust me the possibilities are endless. I have spent hours putting together boards of my favorite things.
I originally started using Pinterest to organize my wedding inspiration pictures, and then I became addicted. Pinterest is full of amazing, creative wedding ideas, from “Do it Yourself” to beautiful Etsy products and so much more.
Ok, so it works like this. You request an invite to start an account, which can easily be linked to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. When you connect your Pinterest account to your Facebook or Twitter account, it automatically links you to your friends who are using Pinterest.
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards for all kinds of things – from planning their weddings, and decorating their homes, to organizing their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. Pinterest will even automatically suggest new pins to you biased on what you have already posted.
Last but not least you can continue to fuel the addiction by downloading their handy “Pin it” button. This allows you to pin pictures you love while surfing the web. You just click the “Pin it” button, click the picture you would like to pin, then select the board you want to pin it to, and it does all the rest- even cites your sources with a handy link to the original webpage above your picture.
Pinterest’s says this about their mission: “Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.”
This site is a haven for creatively minded people who love to share their inspirations with others. Beware though, it can become addicting to look at beautiful pictures and artistic “How To” projects. You’ll soon find yourself with a list of new art projects you want to try and make for yourself.
Staying with the garden theme of the ceremony, Tera and Shawn’s reception in the ballroom at the Calumet Club was decorated with adorable carved wooden birds and beautiful natural accents. I loved it!! And check out this simple, yet stunning cake, along with the other goodies, made by Adrienne and Co. Gorgeous as always! Enjoy a handful of our favorite images!
To Tera and Shawn: Congratulations!! We could not be happier for you as you begin one of life’s greatest adventures! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for asking us to share in your special day, and for trusting us to photograph it. We truly loved every minute of it!
Rayna at Always Planned called and asked me if I’d be open to shooting a wedding at the Opera House in Lexington. Uhhhh….let me think about that. YES! Of course!
Anne-Bennett grew up in Kentucky and spent a lot of time watching performances at this theatre. She’s been living in other states more recently, so this was a homecoming of sorts for her. I love that she and Austin picked such a cool spot for their wedding.
Big thanks to all the great vendors!

Anne-Bennett and Austin wanted to go ahead and knock out all of their pictures beforehand, so we arranged for their first look to be on the stage. Talk about a picturesque moment!
These two were so sweet with each other during the first look. They literally stood there for 5 minutes chatting and loving on each other. Awesome.
Hello Miss Wedding Gown Model! Way to rock that dress!
Coolest part of the evening? After their first kiss at the end of the ceremony, the curtain behind them was raised to reveal the reception setup. The live band went right into a song, and Austin and Anne-Bennett had their first dance right then and there with the guests watching from their auditorium seating. Pretty cool, eh?
And here’s the slideshow! When you’re finished, please feel free to leave me some comment love below and hook up with me on Facebook and Twitter. I love staying in touch with folks who stop by my blog. Thanks, y’all!
Oh, and lastly, to see all of the shots from the wedding and reception (there were tons more), click HERE and preregister. You’ll be notified here in a few days once they’re posted into a gallery. Thanks!
Having not been to the Calumet Club before Tera and Shawn’s wedding, I had no idea what to expect… but this place is beautiful! Tera had a friend transform the basement for a lovely garden themed ceremony, and it was perfect!! I absolutely loved the way they had the altar decorated with flowers and garden decor. Enjoy a few of our favorites! :)
And, a few of Eric’s favorite film images from this portion of the day:
Ah, what can I say about Chris and Janet? They are simply a lovely and fun couple. There is nothing better for a wedding photographer than a laid back couple, and these two are just that. You may remember their fantastic Maker’s Mark engagement shoot, where we had tons of fun. They hiked through grassy fields, climbed on barrels, and played on wagons. It was a blast! This past Saturday they got married, and it turned out to be a beautiful day! I was SO thankful! And Janet has got to be one of the sweetest brides ever. She wanted to make sure Wes and I were comfortable, and was extremely relaxed for a bride who was about to get married! She even had the added stress of breaking her wrist about 3 weeks ago. She had to have surgery, and then had to wear a brace. She got clearance to go brace-less for pictures. Between her and Chris, there wasn’t one single complaint. They did all kinds of crazy things for us. They even walked through a muddy creek area, climbed a big fence, and posed out in a big horse field…and yes, Janet was in her beautiful dress throughout! Of course, there may have been a white wedding shoe casualty…..the muddy and marshy creek sucked in Janet’s shoe, and it’s beautiful white color was forever changed. Congratulations, Chris & Janet. We had a fantastic time, and are thankful that we got to share in your special day!
p.s. I hope you guys will not remember me as the photographer that made an already injured bride climb a fence, cause more pain to her fresh injury, and tarnish her beautiful white shoes….ah the memories.
