CelebraTORI Countdown!

Posted by: Always Planned

Ever since I found out that Tori Spelling would be coming out with a party planning book called CelebraTORI, I have been impatiently counting down the days till April 3 when it will be released! I am a huge Tori fan and an even bigger fan of the parties and weddings she has designed and planned. In honor the upcoming release date, I have been reminiscing on some of my favorite sTORIbook Weddings from Tori’s wedding planning reality TV show.

One of my favorite weddings Tori planned was Erienne and Jeremy’s shabby chic wedding. The couple lost their original venue just three weeks before the wedding and called Tori for emergency help! Not only was this wedding beautiful, but there were so many details that made the whole experience special. For example, Erienne’s mother custom made her daughter’s wedding gown! All the little emotional details brought me to tears as I watched this episode, and it is one I will always remember!

Another one of my favorite sTORIbook Weddings was Sarena and Eric’s 1920s/punk theme wedding. It was SO unique that it always stands in my mind! The flapper-esque bridesmaids dresses and acrobatic performers really set the mood. The couple planned a photoshoot before the wedding so the photos could be played in a slideshow format during the reception- such a cute touch! The fact that the bride and groom were both so engaged in the theme showed their love and compatibility.

I hope this got everyone as excited for CelebraTORI as it did me! The countdown begins!

xoxo

Shower fun!

Posted by: Always Planned

I recently went to a wedding shower and was just in love with the games we played and the way presents were done. It was such a thoughtful idea for the game; the aunts of the bride gave the bride and groom a questionnaire to fill out without each other seeing it and at the shower, the bride, relatives, and friends all tried to guess the correct answers! Even the mothers did not get all of them right but it was such a blast!

Another aspect of wedding showers that I love is the tradition placed behind certain things. The shower I recently went to incorporated things from the grandmothers of the bride who has passed away years ago. Favorite flowers of one grandmother were the table decorations and the favorite candy of the other was offered to the guests. It was a nice gesture to remember them by. Also, the bride received the rollling pin from one of her grandmothers with a little message attached.

The bride was given the option to use parts of her mother’s flower ribbons, grandmother’s flower ribbons, great grandmother’s lace, and/or great great grandmother’s feathers from her bouquet. To see the generations of wedding items was an experience that was inspiring to witness- to have that many keepsakes from years past.

It was a lovely afternoon and it was such a heart-warming experience to have so many traditions brought into the day to make it truely feel like those that could not be with us were present. I was very touched by this and hope that others will include these little sentimental moments in their showers or wedding. I just thought it was such a touching thing to witness and to be able to experience as a guest of the shower. Keeping memories alive.

Love always,

Rachel

Hello All!

For those of you who have not joined us for Bridal Benchmark… What are you waiting for!?

Since you were busy last Wednesday, you’re lucky that I took notes! Unfortunately, my notes won’t help you taste how yummy Lundy’s catering was! (Note to selves: if anything, come for the food! Just kidding… you need to come for all the great vendors, crafts AND the food!)

Lundy’s had delicious snacks for everyone to try, as well as champagne. (Classy!)

So many great ideas were brought up on Wednesday, but I wanted to touch on a few of my favorites!

Melissa with Lundy’s Catering and the Carrick House talked about food trends to think about for 2012Some of those trends consisted of green market, farm to table and seasonal… Don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Think presentation! It’s important for the food to taste good, but it’s even better if it looks good!  She gave us a lot of great ideas, one of my favorites? Late night eats for those later receptions.  It could be something personal that you and your future hubby enjoy, such as milk and cookies or Krispy Kremes!

Also, Melissa with Affordable Invitations spoke. One of my favorite points that Melissa made was that your invitation sets the tone you want for your wedding, it shows your guests what to expect! She sent around many invitation samples, and believe me, Melissa can definitely help you set the tone for your wedding.  The invitations were beautiful, as were the save the dates, programs and napkins! I’m looking forward to setting up an appointment with Melissa and picking out our invites!

Finally… Craft Time! The fabulous interns had put together a fun little craft for us brides to make!  The craft idea can be used as a favor for your reception!

Here’s the nifty little bag I made!

There are still spots left to attend the Spring Bridal Benchmark Series, so hurry!  You don’t want to be missing out! See you there!

Valentine’s Day

Posted by: Honey Heart Photography

Today is Valentine’s Day. All around the world people have received notes, cards, flowers, and candy. All over the globe romance is newly kindling, hotly burning, steadily smoldering, dimly flickering, or hopefully longing. And there is such beauty in all of those states.

Today is the one day all around the world that Love is celebrated. And that is a great thing.

One of the great things about being wedding photographers is that we get to celebrate love all year. Weddings are a sort of grand Valentine’s Day – dedicated to the couple’s love and commitment. And we are so honored to document them, in all their emotion.

We hear a lot of God’s Word read at these wedding ceremonies – which is great – and we hear none more than 1 Corinthians 13 – the Love Chapter.

Most of us have heard this passage seemingly a million times – but today seems like an appropriate day to revisit this powerful verse about Real Love.

The Love Chapter

So today, wether you are celebrating Valentine’s Day with a spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, friends, or just you and your ice-cream – know that Love is more than romance, more than chocolates and flowers and sweet nothings – it’s about simply loving people, wholly, patiently, joyfully.

Here’s a great song we’ve been singing for a while…

The Decemberists
