For the June Simply Love Studio Vendor Networking event, we had the pleasure of going to Georgetown to learn about gelato. We went to Beth & Phillip’s farm, who own Spotz Gelato. They serve gelato in the central Kentucky area and beyond at all sorts of weddings and events.
In addition to our area they opened a shop last fall in Nicaragua. We got to hear about that crazy process and their heart behind it. They ended up visiting the country several times in a five-year period and decided it was the place for them to open up their gelato shop. The flavors in Nicaragua are somewhat different than they serve here. They used many native fruits and vegetables for their ingredients, just as they do here with bourbon, pecans, etc.
After they shared their story, they invited vendors out to their kitchen to actually make gelato. We got to pour the milk and Oreos on, so much fun! Then we got to sample the cookies n cream, which is their most popular and the strawberry sorbet.
I think we all have a whole new level of appreciation for their business now! Be sure to catch them at an event coming up or hire them for your wedding!! We promise your guests will love the gelato! For more on their adventures follow their instagram!
