On Monday morning Sarah and I had the chance to visit Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company for a quick tour and tasting experience. The venue was absolutely amazing starting from the extensive gift shop to the brewery and distillery. The tour lasts about an hour, but gives ample time for tasting and asking whatever questions you may have. At the beginning of the tour you watch a short video highlighting the history of the company as well as the founder, Pearse Lyons, who comes from a long line of brewers. You are then taken into the brewery where the tour guide gives you an in-depth description of the alcohol production process. Soon after you are taken into a tasting room where you can use four tokens you are given at the beginning of the tour to taste any of the beer or bourbon selections. Here I tried both the Kentucky Kolsh and the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, one of their specialty beers. I was definitely a fan of both, however the Bourbon Barrel Ale absolutely has a bourbon kick to it, which is quite surprising before noon! Then you head over to the distillery where you experience a similar tour and tasting experience. I can’t say I threw back some Bourbon here, because it was still 11:30, but I did try a Bourbon coffee drink that would be perfect for Keeneland tailgating or after dinner drinks!Currently the venue is expanding even more to expand their brewing potential and opening up more locations across Kentucky.

This entire experience would be perfect for a wedding event. Private tours are offered with groups ranging from 8-15 people, making it a perfect spot for a bachelor or bachelorrette party. If not for a party, this would be a great activity to take your in-laws to or to relieve stress before the wedding!
