On week 4 we had a miscellaneous group of vendors, but all very important to the wedding day. We started with Jackie Lee from Every Last Detail. She shared with the group what a wedding planner is, what a wedding coordinator is and what the difference between those two and a venue coordinator is to help Brides understand everyone’s roles. Jackie is available for both day of planning and full service planning and although SLS can help you with vendor referrals and time lines, we HIGHLY recommend a day of coordinator at least. The difference between what we do for full service and what Jackie does is she will actually setup the meetings with vendors and go to them with you to help ensure you ask all of the important questions.
Melissa, long time preferred vendor of SLS, with Affordable Invitations followed Every Last Detail. Melissa had some of her invitation books there for Brides to view. She also shared how she can help with all stationery needs from save the dates, programs, thank you notes, etc. Melissa has more than a decade of experience and can help with the appropriate wording and etiquette. She also does a 20% off discount for Studio Brides and so graciously gave away a $50 gift certificate that evening!
Kayla Jackson with Tie The Knot Hair shared her expertise with the Brides when it comes to wedding day hair and makeup. I am an advocate for not skimping in this area on a wedding day. You want to feel your best and as the Bride you’re going to be in 90% of the pictures!
Alure Salon and Day Spa are also available for wedding day hair, but they also offer in salon services like pedicure, manicures, massages, etc. It’s definitely a great place to treat your bridal party to the week of the wedding. I can say first hand that their pedicures are like no other!
We closed the evening hearing from Clear Pro DJ and KY Sounds, both two of Lexington’s most preferred DJs. They each touched on very important topics, but most importantly why you should hire a dj and not use an ipod. DJs play a very important role in the reception as the emcee. They will do the bridal party introductions, make sure the photographer is ready to capture all of the important dances, introduce the first dance, father/daughter dance and mother/son. Essentially they will lead your entire reception and get folks ready for your send off.
As you can send week 4 was pretty jam packed full of important information. If you missed this evening, be sure and check out the vendor’s websites for more information!
