Bridal Benchmark – Week 2

We talked about a lot of what to do first when you get engaged at the first week of Bridal Benchmark, including setting the budget, finding your wedding gown and selecting a venue.  On the 2nd night of Bridal Benchmark it was all about the photographers and videographers.  Typically those services are booked pretty quickly after the venue because most of those vendors can only do one wedding per day, where as a cake or caterer can do multiples.

Mary & Gabe with Honey Heart Photography shared what to look for in a wedding photographer, what questions you should ask during an initial consultation and what exactly is suppose to happen during an engagement session.  I personally highly recommend doing your engagement session with your wedding day photographer instead of a friend of buying a groupon.  This is the time for you and the groom to get to know the photographer so that you can feel more comfortable and relaxed on the wedding day.

Here’s an awesome engagement shot of one of HHP‘s former couples!

Wes Brown with Wes Brown Photography followed with what a first look is and how to make a wedding day time line.  You can almost all photographers and they will recommend doing a first look and I can almost bet every Bride that has done one would highly recommend it as well.  It makes the day flow smoother, you feel more relaxed and most importantly, you can get to the reception quicker!! While I was looking for a teaser shot on Wes’s blog I found this article!

Vidy with Five By Five Photography & Design finished the photography discussion up with the importance of albums.  She brought a floppy disc with her as a prop and I thought it was genius.  It shows how everyone a few years ago wanted their pictures on a disc, now everyone wants them on a cd or usb, however in a few years from now those may be obsolete, but your album will never be. If you’ve never seen a professional album I invite you into the Studio, we have several you can look at and see the quality of!

Josey with Hoopla Films ended the evening sharing the difference between video & photos!  No doubt he showed a tear jerker clip! Head over to his homepage and the first clip will get ya!
