We had a wonderful time hosting Wedding Studio Alliance last week. We had 3 wedding studios from Tennessee and 1 from Cincinnati. We wanted to share with them some of our favorite KY food traditions. Below are some snapshots from my phone of the food from Gourmet Goodies by Thelma. We also had Ale-8-One to drink!
Benedictine Sandwiches – Benedictine is a condiment made with cucumber and cream cheese. It was invented around the 20th century by Jennie Carter Benedict, a caterer and restaurateur in Louisville.
Mini Hot Browns – A hot brown sandwich is a hot sandwich created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville in 1926. It was created to serve as an alternative to ham and egg late-night suppers.
Chicken Salad Wan Tons – Gourmet Goodies chicken salad may be the best you ever eat!
Mini Derby Pies – Derby Pie is a pastry created in Prospect, KY and is often associated with the KY Derby. The pie is chocolate and walnut tart in a pie shell usually with a pastry dough crust.
Bourbon Balls – Bourbon Balls were invented by Ruth of Rebecca Ruth Candy Company in Frankfort, KY. The basic ingredients include dark chocolate, bourbon and sugar.
Ladies – we hope you enjoyed some of our favorite Kentucky food!
