Whitney and Nick wanted to do something totally different for their engagement session, and were up for whatever ideas we threw at them. We love that about our clients! So, we headed up to West Baden Springs Hotel to start with some really gorgeous portraits in the garden (after a quick chess match… see below :) . Afterwards, we headed over to a nearby train station to see what awesome things we could find. I think that all four of us instantly fell in love with all the old rusty train engines and railcars. It was pretty much amazing :) Enjoy a few of our favorites from the evening!

Here at Simply Love, WE LOVE SAWYER’S! If you are unfamiliar with Sawyer’s Downtown-Restaurant and Grille, it is located in downtown Lexington on West Main Street and is the site of our daily lunch break. The food at Sawyer’s is absolutely amazing but the best part is the wonderful owner and operator of the restaurant, Jim Sawyer!  He never ceases to put a smile on our faces and always goes out of his way to spread cheer to everyone who stops by his restaurant.  Today was an extra special day for us at Sawyer’s.  We were greeted with the usual compliments and charm of Jim but the real surprise was when we received our food.  Jim had cut out by hand some amazing cheese hearts that adorned our lunch basket! Needless to say, he made our day :) Sawyer’s is awesome and we think that you should try it out as well.  Take a look below at some of our pictures from today’s lunch.

Simply Love Studio is so excited to announce that Kara Heissenbuttel of Lundy’s is featured in “Keeneland Entertains,” Fran Taylor’s newest book which focuses on traditional bluegrass hospitality and favorite recipes.  If you haven’t purchased this book, it is certainly a must have! The book features hundreds of recipes along with an inside look into the lifestyle and traditions surrounding Keeneland.  Kara has a recipe featured in the book along with a quote.  Kara is a true Keeneland fan and her appreciation of the traditions and sentiment that Keeneland offers is evident in her quote, “You can really appreciate the beauty of Keeneland early in the morning while the grounds are calm and the horses are working out.  It builds great anticipation knowing that one of those horses could be the next big stakes winner,” says Kara.

Be sure to check out Kara’s recipe for Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Dip in the book along with the pictures below of Kara’s very own book signing for the Simply Love girls!

Fondue

Posted by: Always Planned

So… if you are a non-traditional bride who is not a big fan of cake I have run across a great idea for you!!! Everyone loves melted chocolate, but chocolate fountains tend to be old fashioned and over done at weddings, so serve your guests individual fondues. Around the time you would normally serve cake at your wedding have your caterer serve each guest with a small tray of pound cake, strawberries, and etc… with a small cup of melted chocolate. It will for sure be a hit with all of your guests… young and old.
