Craspedia or “Billy Balls” are becoming an increasingly popular wedding flower and AP is also in love! Billy Balls add a whimsical or vintage touch to any wedding. These cheery little flowers make a statement on their own or can be added to bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces. The golden yellow color goes well with navy, aqua, gray, black, pinks, oranges, and reds. The cost is around $1-$2 per stem and they are totally worth it! I tend to have really laid back clients, but Cynthia and Ryan take laid back to a whole new level. I love them for that. Breaking from convention, they chose Old San Juan, Puerto Rico as their wedding venue. We all stayed at the El San Juan Hotel and Casino (gorgeous, btw), and the ceremony was at the iconic Fort San Cristobal. Incredible.
Here are some of my faves:
Their First Look moment. We did most of the family shots before the wedding.
Love these expressions.
Can’t wait to print this huge.
I love this shot of us in downtown Old San Juan, but c’mon….could I BE any more sweaty? Yikes! LOL

I’m an eternal optimist. Classic glass-half-full kinda guy. But…
Yesterday prior to leaving my room at the El San Juan Hotel and Casino to shoot a wedding, I had a series of blunders that nearly choked the smile from me. No bueno.
I love small towns. I grew up in one. It’s the tight-knit community, the laid-back atmosphere, the warm feeling of “home” that draws me in. I now live in Lexington (just a big town) and get to travel to some pretty large cities with my photography, but it’s getting to the places like Paintsville in eastern Kentucky that brings that breath of fresh air. A sense of peace and gravity.
To Ashley and Brandon—your wedding was perfect. I enjoyed my time with your family and friends, and I hope that you’ll stay in touch. I kind of feel like we’re family now!
Many thanks to the amazing vendors that *made* the day:
And here’s the slideshow! When you’re finished with it, I’d love it if each of you would leave a comment and then connect with me through Facebook and Twitter. When Andrew and I take a vacation we like to see the sights but also take some time to relax and enjoy what the city has to offer. In the midst of our planning I happened upon a cupcake tea!! And to top it off it was at the Ritz Carlton in Central Park!! Yes indeed; a Cupcake Tea at the Ritz Carlton! Oh my, I am in love! You have to see for yourself!
We started in the Star Lounge of the lobby and right off I realized we were meant to be there. Not only was everything decked out in the Always Planned blue, but I do love stars and we were actually sitting in the Star Lounge. EEK!
We began with tea, I had Darjeeling and Andrew had the Mad Hatter. Both were oh so yummy as we prepared it English style with cream and sugar. We were also greeted with a tray of nuts.
I loved the white and brown sugar cubes! So darling!
Wow, when our cupcakes arrived we were totally in shock at how adorable they were – almost too cute to eat! No worries, this was a pricey little experience so of course we dove in. Our flavors were Oreo, red velvet, lemon meringue, sundae, and carrot cake.
Our Winner!! All of the cupcakes were amazing, but the one that stands out the most was the Sundae!!! Seriously how can you go wrong with sprinkles, nuts and a cherry on top!
We loved the entire experience and highly suggest you try it our for yourself. If you do not plan to be near the Ritz Carlton in Central Park anytime soon, why not create your very own cupcake tea?! Great idea for a bridal tea, invite your girlfriends over or have a fun and romantic date with your sweetie. It truly is hard to go wrong with cupcakes!
