Real Wedding: Emily & Tyler

Posted by: Lauren Chitwood Events

There are wild weddings, there are over the top weddings, and then there are weddings where you just feel lucky to have been there. Emily and Tyler are possibly the most sincerely in love and genuinely kind couple I’ve ever serviced. Ceremony and reception were at Garden Court, with the ceremony outside in the rose garden and reception just beyond in the beautiful gilded home (but mostly in the back lawn- the weather was TO DIE FOR). I could go on and on about this lovely little garden themed wedding, but the pictures speak for themselves. Lang Thomas, of course, did a lovely job really captured the tenderness Emily & Tyler had for each other.

Getting to photograph Mary-Anne’s and Donnie’s wedding later this year is special for me.  Donnie and I know each other through our good friend Bill (you might remember me blogging about Bill in this post a couple months ago).  Even though Donnie and I don’t know each other as well as we know Bill, I feel a remarkable bond with Donnie and Mary-Anne simply because they’re tight with Bill.  Is that weird?  Maybe, but I don’t care!  They’re awesome people, and I’m looking forward to us hanging out more.

We started off downtown and made our way out to Keeneland to wrap up.  Here are some of my faves:

Mary-Anne’s mom dropped Bell off for some shots.  My wife had a dog just like this growing up.  I think we’ll end up with one for Carson eventually.  I love this dog.

After finding a janitor’s closet to get changed in at Keeneland (sounds glamorous, right?), Mary-Anne and Donnie rocked out some pretty sassy shots.  Dig it?

Sweet shoes.

And here’s the slideshow with some more of my favorites.  Be sure to look out for the sequence of shots where Donnie shows me his Zoolander poses.  Classic.

Oh, and when you’re finished, would you do me a favor?  Leave a comment, and then stay in touch with me through Facebook and/or Twitter.  I love hearing from you all!

Even on a Rainy Day

Posted by: Lauren Chitwood Events

If weather like today’s make you want to run as fast as you can away from planning a springtime wedding, think again.  Some of the most precious and romantic photographs can be found outside on a rainy day.

If you do end up with a rainy wedding day, just try and make the most of it.  It will still be your beautiful day, no matter what the weather!

Plus, if you’re still a little worried about rain, then include personalized umbrellas or rain boots, as they can be an adorable addition!

Leslie works in surgery at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, so she’s got the hook-up on horse farms.  So much so that she was able to score us some time at Shadwell Farm for her and Jesse’s engagement session.  Pretty dang sweet.

I love these two!  Just fun, laid back folks.  After ending their session in downtown Lexington, we grabbed some pizza from Goodfellas Pizzeria and hung out for a bit.  Perfect ending.

Many thanks to Magnus who assisted me for this session.   I couldn’t help wanting a shot of him at the end of the session, so Jesse held the light and Magnus gave us his super-hero pose.  Awesome, right?

Below you’ll find the slideshow with some more of my favorite shots from the engagement session.  When it’s over, I’d love for each of you to leave a comment and connect with me.  I’m all about some Twitter and Facebook, so don’t be shy, y’all!

Candy Time!

Posted by: Dupree Catering

One of the hottest trends lately for parties and weddings is Candy Displays. The best candy displays are the ones that match the color & theme of the event. The display is all about the mix of containers ~ so, make sure to use a variety of sizes and heights to accomplish the best look. You can also give small bags with custom labels for your guests to take candy as a sweet treat. Everyone always loves a snack after the party!

Here are a few tips of the trade when designing your candy table:

1. It’s all about the containers! Plan your display around your table size and containers.

2. Figure out which candy you want to put in each container and then how much of that candy the container will hold. You can do this by finding something that you already have that is measured that is the aprox. density of your candy (for example a bag of sugar) and pouring it into your container.  If you are buying an odd shaped candy call your candy provider and explain the container to them - they are great about helping estimate the amount of candy that will fit in it.

3. Buy bulk candy. The shipping charges are expensive but you will save a ton of money by buying bulk. We order all of our candy from www.candywarehouse.com. They make it really easy and you can even shop by theme, for example wedding candy, old fashioned and nostalgic candy, even pirate candy!

4. Coordinate the theme and colors of your candy to the event. For example if your wedding colors are orange and pink just do caring shades of that colored candy.

5. Remember to also order the candy that will hold your other candy in place. For example if you are having lollipops, rock candy to pour in the bottom of the candy will hold the lollipops up right and in place.

6. Check out how to’s on youtube. Search Candy Display. Good Luck!!
