Louisville is a pretty cool place for photographers. Don’t get me wrong–I love Lexington, but it’s fun to change things up. There are just so many places to shoot. I feel like I only scratch the surface of the possibilities each time I’m there.
I know Kristie and Nick through Nick’s brother Adam, who is married to my wife’s sister. Getting to know them better through the wedding planning process has been been nice. Their wedding is going to be at a chapel on the campus of the University of Evansville in Indiana. They’re a super-sweet couple!
It was during this next shot that I told Nick how impressed I was by his knack for taking direction from me. I asked him if he was in modeling early in life. He said, “No. The military.” Awesome.
Nick and Kristie have been taking dance lessons in preparation for their first dance on the wedding day. They were happy to show me a few moves.
Every so often I leave the studio and branch out in to the rest of the clients home. (By studio, I mean where the lights are set up) This was particularly awesome last Tuesday because of how awesome Joy and Kurt's house is! It felt so warm and eclectic. So it only made sense to pick up the couple's colors in the photographs. Art FITS when is looks as though the room was decorated around the piece of art. This was definitely a success. I can't wait to see what the finished products look like on the walls!

Holly and I are from Mt. Sterling, just east of Lexington (GREAT town to be from, btw). We weren’t super-close growing up (we’re a couple years different in age), but you can’t be from Mt. Sterling and not know everyone in town. I do remember that Holly and her brother Victor (hey Vic!) were always happy, laid-back, and well-liked. Good people!
Holly called me out of the blue not too long ago so that we could meet up at Cosi and chat about her wedding. She told me all about how she and Vinay had met in England while in med school together. Vinay is now in Maryland working on his residency, and Holly will be starting hers shortly. For now, though, she’s in Lexington (sooo tough to be apart, I’m sure), getting all of the details together for what will be an unbelievably cool wedding.
This is my very first Hindu-Indian wedding. I cannot wait. Holly has been giving me quite an education on the traditions and events surrounding the wedding. It’s going to be a blast. A photographer’s playground.
To Holly and Vinay—Thank you for having faith in me to do this right. You’re awesome individuals, and you’re even better together. That would make you awesomer, right?
So now for the engagement session images…
We started out at the Headley-Whitney Museum. Gorgeous place. This was the first time that I’d been present to shoot the moment of the proposal. Vinay hid the ring in a bouquet of flowers. He told Holly that I had requested that he bring flowers as a prop for the photography. I would never do that (ha!), but it made for a great cover story. Once Holly looked down inside the bouquet, she found the ring she’d been waiting for. Make sure you check out the slideshow to see the sequence of events. Very cool moment indeed.
Like I mentioned before, Holly and Vinay met in England, so they felt that getting some shots at The Pub here in Lexington might be a nice way to bring back some of that flair.
Looooove this shot.
After lunch in Lexington, we took off for Newport for some ice cream and time at the riverfront. Vinay was flying out of Cincinnati, so it made for a nice way to wrap up the day.
Please check out the slideshow! When it’s over, please connect with me! You can leave a comment below, then I’d love it if you’d stay in touch through Facebook and Twitter. Cool?
So the beautiful spring in the bluegrass has brought lots of our clients out of hiding and they are all starting to take their engagement photos! From the look and sound of things, there will be many posts soon, but today we’re featuring Jamie and Nathan. I know, {you’ve already peaked} they’re a hot couple. Jamie and Nathan are gettin’ hitched on July 31st in Louisville and having an amazing reception at The Gillespie downtown. Clearly, things are going to be amazing, I’m sad I have to wait! I’m also so excited for everyone to meet Alicia with Aesthetiica Photography. I personally think Alicia did a wonderful job capturing Jamie and Nathan and I can’t wait to see the images from the wedding. Soo, without further adieu , Jamie & Nathan…
Pictures were taken at the always fantastic, private Greystone Estate. The Greystone on occasion will host a fabulous wedding or event so if you’re interested feel free to shoot me an email.
On this day in history, we will always remember it as the legal birthday of Lauren Chitwood Events. Like every birth, conception and planning started long before but today we are eating cake in honor of a birthday.
As time passes it feels like decades some moments and just a few weeks the next, it’s crazy how that works huh?
I often gush over my clients and say how cute and fun they are, and obviously how cool their wedding or special event is going to be, but today I’d like to use this platform to give each of my clients a sincere thank you. Thank you for seeing our service and our creativity as beautiful and valuable. The time we take and the inspiration we find in our designs comes from our relationships with you. Each of you inspire me, with your style and beauty or sense of humor. There is nothing more intimate than knowing the essence of two people, and I feel so lucky to be creating visual events and invoking emotions in your guests, that so closely represent you. We could not do this if you weren’t so generous and giving of yourselves, and by letting me and my team truly know you, we are successful.
