         So… I have to admit… I’m not really a sports type person. I don’t keep up with any teams or watch any games regularly. And I’ve never been interested in boxing. Why would anyone want to watch a couple guys just knocking each other around for the fun of it? I don’t get it… So, needless to say, when they built the Muhammad Ali Center in downtown Louisville a couple years ago, it didn’t exactly make it to the top of my list of places to visit. BUT, I went today, and it was awesome! Megan Biddle (of ICVideo) and I decided to go down just to check it out since it’s quickly becoming a popular place for weddings and events here in Louisville. We were shown the different event spaces that they have, which really are pretty fantastic! And, we had a brief tour through the museum. While we didn’t spend a lot of time there, I truly enjoyed the visit and now (ironically enough) I would love to go back and spend more time looking through all the exhibits. I loved it! 

Aside from the fabulous view that the rooms offer, one really sweet perk to having your wedding at the Ali Center is that your guests can take some time between the ceremony and reception to browse through the museum. As photographers, we hear a lot of brides and grooms say that they want their guests to be entertained during this time while photos are taking place… the last thing you want is bored guests!! So… it works out really really well that they can meander through the exhibits during that time.

Whether or not you’re looking for a venue for an event, I can honestly say that I highly recommend you taking the time to visit the Muhammad Ali Center. You’ll love it!

This is the “Hopes and Dreams” wall… children around the world were given a tile to draw a picture on, and then their voice was recorded with a wish that they have for the world. The recordings are played so you can hear them while you are looking at the tiles. Such a moving experience!!
