Lots of people like juice. There’s an entire grocery aisle dedicated to it. Apple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, pomegranate juice, blueberry juice, tomato juice…. you name it. So I’m sure it comes as no surprise when I tell you that I like almost any kind of juice (though I’ll tell you right now, I’ve never liked tomato juice…just to be clear). But, while I will happily pay a few dollars for the best jug of juice you can get at the store, I would much rather pick out the fresh fruits or veggies and make my own. It’s just soooo much better!
Several years ago, my mom bought a juicer. The thing is huge and kinda complicated to take apart and clean and put back together… but it really is a nice one and it makes some darn good juice. Anyway, we started out with apples, oranges, and other normal stuff… and then one day, she was juicing carrots. Hello?? Carrots are supposed to be crunchy…. not made into juice! I looked at her like she was crazy, but decided to humor her and try a sip of this bright orange liquid. It was weird. Like I said… carrots are supposed to be crunchy… yet I tried it again. And again. And then I decided it wasn’t too bad. In fact, I kinda liked it!
So, now… I’m hooked. To this day, carrots are one of my absolute favorite things to juice. I should add that you have to get the good carrots… I like Kroger’s organic carrots since they are consistently sweet :) My mom and dad lovingly gave us our own juicer for our first Christmas together (a much, much less complicated one, I’ll say), and I’m sorta surprised we haven’t worn it out yet! Fresh orange juice is absolutely amazing. Add in some pineapple and it’s just that much better!! Pear juice is a new discovery of mine, and I’ve had a glass almost every day for the past week and a half :) And carrot juice… as I said, is my FAVORITE. I could drink a glass of it every day, too!! …and this spring/summer, I plan to :)
So, next time you’re in the area… stop in and I’ll make you a glass. I promise, it’s MUCH better than you think!!
I love a good party. Between family life and work, my opportunities to be out-and-about after 6PM are pretty scarce. Getting to be at the Grand Opening of Simply Love Studio was a hoot. If you haven’t checked out their site yet, you might head over HERE to see what the buzz is all about. Simply Love Studio is THE place to visit for all things wedding related.
The night of the Grand Opening, I brought my gear and provided a ”Pink Carpet” photo-op for those in attendance. I got to meet alot of new folks and catch up with other wedding vendors. It was a GREAT night.
Here’s what I contributed to the Swag Bags given out by SLS to the first 100 people. I’m always meeting folks for coffee, so it seemed fitting that I send home some java-themed goodness. Many thanks to my incredible assistant Candi who packaged all 100 of these.
This was the scene at the corner of Broadway and Main Street in the heart of Lexington. Location, location, location, eh? And by the way? So many people are outside because it was shoulder to shoulder inside. Crazy how many people came out. That certainly bodes well for the success of this company. Rayna, you rock!
The highlight of the evening for me was finally meeting up with Angela Anderson and the talented AAP crew (yo, Lucy!). We’ve both done a lot of work in the Kentucky market, but had yet to connect. Angela, you’re an amazing photographer and an inspiring business owner. I’m glad you’re involved with Simply Love, and I’ll look forward to staying in touch!
A shot of my brother Jay being awesome. You can check out his website HERE. He’s an excellent dj, and he’s one of the preferred vendors at Simply Love. I love that he’s working in the wedding industry, too.
And a few more shots from inside. Sorry there aren’t more! I was having too much fun socializing! LOL
The after-party…Who knew?
Thanks to all the other vendors who helped to make the night so fun:
You’ll have to watch to see all of the SUPER fun things we’ve been up to. I’ve got to give credit where credit is due, here is the wonderful list of vendors that I mention in this post!

Our Grand Opening event was last Thursday and we could not be more thrilled with the support we received from the Lexington community. We estimate there was over 200 people in attendance throughout the night. If you were unable to make it out then you definitely missed one heck of a party! Check out these wonderful pictures by the very talented Shaun Ring Photography.
All of our photographers were out in full force at our amazing Grand Opening Event. The very talented Shaun Ring did our pink carpet photo shoot as well as party pics and detail shots! The ice sculpture provided by Season’s Catering, the stunningly gorgeous dresses in the window from Twirl Boutique and all of the tables, linens, glassware and bar supplied by Lundy’s Special Events.
Our oh so yummy catering – Dupree Catering and Events did all of the passed appetizers, while DaRae and Friends Catering did the buffet – each one really hit this event out of the ballpark! Tinkers Cake Shop was all the rage with their fabulously pink cake in… the window and the delicious cake pops and cupcakes!
We partied all night with music provided by Platinum Band and Evan Morris with Bluegrass Beat supplied us with all of our uplighting, Gobo and the DJ! Oh my – the details!!!
